Card Drive: Update

UPDATE

Thought I'd give a little update since I originally posted the Card Drive for Addison on October 3rd.  They are almost a month into the two year battle.

I have received over 60 cards for for Addison, Avery, Ansley and the family.
I mailed a huge box last Friday.
We had our 5th annual Halloween Party and they could not come.
It was the first one they have missed in all those years including the first one when I lived out-of-state and Jody drove the girls a couple hours over to join the fun!
I was hoping to deliver them in person, but came down with a sore throat.

If you have been reading the family's Caring Bridges pages then you are aware of the daily challenges this family faces. She is finishing up the first round of steroids which have left her swollen, sore, hungry, and exhausted.  She has been in treatment for just shy of a month and she is now losing her hair.  In addition to the physical challenges, the family has been emotionally challenged as you can imagine.  The toll this fight has on the two little ones is evident. The parents are trying to keep things as "normal" as possible for the family as energy and spirit allows. These are AMAZING parents.  I just love them so much!

With the support of many in the blogging and crafting world, we are able to
bless this family and offer a bit of cheer through cute cards and encouraging words.
Some have sent stickers to the girls too.

If it has been a while since you checked the original post, there have been several prizes added by such generous people including Lawn Fawn, Jennifer McGuire, Karen Baker, Studio Calico and more.   If you have sent cards, then I thank you again on behalf of the family. If you plan to send cards, please review the guidelines and thank YOU too!  If you don't have time to send cards then please pray for the family.
Additionally, the mom shared on Facebook that another way to help all Leukemia
patients is by donating blood to your local blood bank.

ETA: 10/31/12   She's having the PICC line removed this morning and a port is being surgically put in.  She'll also receive a spinal tap with chemo today as well as a bone marrow aspiration.  Mom called me yesterday and was SO apprreciative of all the cards and prayers so far.

Keep them coming!
If you have any other questions, email me at kellybertram (at) hotmail (dot) com.
This card drive run until December 20th!

God Bless,
Kelly

10 Min Card (more like 12:68)

Decided to give the 10 Minute Craft Challenge a try.
It was rather fun, but it took me 12 minutes and 68 seconds.
I did not plan on the fact that I only had a small space cleared on my desk and had to stop and clean up all the ink before I could finish the card!
Then as I went to grab the white card based I noticed ink all over my hand and had to wash!

I embossed the chevron in white.
The background was made with 3 distress inks and water mists.
I heated the panel to get it to dry quickly.
I tried to "hide" that reddish line with the flower.  A bit still showed.

more for card drive: CAS cards with HA

Made a little set of three cards to send to my friend's daughters.
Little Addison is battling Leukemia and her sisters are battling right beside her.
The little ones are affected just as much, but in a different way.
One card will go to each girl.
Love to have you join my CARD DRIVE for her.
FABULOUS prizes too!

My CAS cards feature stamps by Hero Arts.
I stamped, colored and cut out the butterflies.
Then I stamped the image on the paper to get the antennae.
The cut out images were then glued on top.
The flight path was created with a Uniball pen.
The top lines were embossed on the MS scoreboard.

Modified them a bit with a Paper Smooches sentiment for some cards to
welcome new babies at church.  Lots of COPIC coloring fun!

I am entering these cards into the following challenges:
Cupcake Craft #215:   Pieced Off
A Blog Named Hero #14: Clean Up Your Act (CAS project)

Supplies:
Stamps by HA  Cling Butterflies and Everyday Sayings Stamp Set
Other: Copics, Neenah paper, Uniball pen, MS scoreboard, Stickles

Sending Love to Addison

Another card for sweet Addison
Click on her picture on my sidebar to join in on my card drive for her.
The family will be SO blessed by the cards!

This card feature Lawn Fawn's "You've Got Mail"
The hearts were made with a tiny heart stamp from my stash.

I colored the mailbox with Copics and paper pieced it on the card.
I was afraid to color directly on the card b/c of bleeding.
I ended up making the top panel three times.
One was stamped crooked and I smudged ink on the second.
I stamped and colored the envelope separately and cut a slit in the mailbox.

I am submitting this card into the following challenges:
CAS-Ual Fridays #74: Put You Heart Into It
Moxie Fab World: Hello/Thinking of You (for sweet Addison)

Thanks for looking.
Hope you will join the card drive for Addison!
