Addison Update

Several people have asked about my friend's daughter, Addison, who was diagnosed with Leukemia back in September of 2012.  Last December was such a struggle for them as Addison was in the hospital much of that month.  A year later, she is still battling the cancer and her treatment plan goes until 2015, but they are doing so much better.

You can see her in a video linked.  She is the girl in the yellow and gray striped shirt.  There's a quick view of her at :08 and then she speaks on camera at 2:03.

The family appreciates the thought and prayers as
they continue to fight each and every day.

Random Cards

Very little crafting since I went back to work after being home for 10 years, but I have a few to share that I have made for specific occasions.

Lego card for boy's birthday:

Skylander card for another boy's birthday.
I took the image off the internet.
My son came up with the sentiment.
 The character's name is "Crusher".

I made two of these for my son's coaches this fall.

Hope to see you again soon,

Flying By to Say HI!!

So as I sat in my craft room the other day deciding what to play with in the small amount of time I had, and I noticed the brand new pack of Project Life journaling cards that I had picked up at Michael's.  It is a pack of 100.
What on Earth was I going to do with a 100 of those cuties?
Amy Tsuruta had been posting a bunch of cards from one pad so I was determined to use one up!   (so I can buy a new one... wink wink...)  I grabbed an MME pad and the Lawn Fawn  "Flying By" stamps and went to town!

I stamped the planes on the cute papers and glued them to the journaling
card with the cute flight path.

Here's the pile.  There were a few papers left, but not many...
These may appear in gift sets later.  Most of my sets are coordinated, but I think it would be fun to give eclectic mixes this year.

Very busy with the new job as well as a course I am taking to renew my license.
I apologize for not being able to visit many blogs.
Class will be finished at the end of October and then I can play some more!
Until I can fly by again...

Get Well Soon

Made a get well card for a family member.
I used the newest sketch from Seize the Sketch challenge #2

I paper pieced the turtle and gave him a glittery ice pack
with a dab of my wink of stella marker.
The heart was a punch that I layered several times.

Here's the Sketch:

My card features papers by Echo Park,
Lawn Fawn's "On the Mend" stamps,
washi tape, and wink of stella glitter marker.

Gift Tags for Teachers

Hi There.
Sharing some tags I made for a back to school treat for the boys' teachers.
The tag features Lawn Fawn's "A Good Apple" and Harold's ABC.
The words were embossed with white powder.
The chalkboards were colored and cut out.
I added the black piece on top.

The treats are little chocolate Scotty dogs.  The Scotty dog is the mascot for the school.
When I found the candy mold at the local grocery store I could not resist it!

I am entering this tag into the Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Back to School.
Thanks for looking,

Germ Juice

Made these adorable "germ juice" containers for the boys' primary teachers.
I got the idea off of PINTEREST The link takes you to a picture not a blog.
The original was written with a sharpie.

When I bought my Cameo a month ago I got the vinyl starter bundle.
This is my first vinyl project and I must say that the process was pretty easy and
turned out GREAT.  So professional looking!

to go back to work.  I taught high school for 12 years and have been home for 10 years.
I was offered a full-time tutoring position last weekend at a local school.
Back to work I go! I still hope to do a little crafting, but I will be limited.

It is the challenge's one year anniversary!

Would have been less, but the Glossy Accents and I got in a battle (clogged)...
The gloss won and I switched to my Scotch Quick Dry.

STS#1: Good Times!

Played along with the sketch from Seize the Sketch.
It is a new sketch challenge!

I was inspired by the invitation below to create a background out of distress inks.
I started with a white panel and blended the inks to create a cotton candy look.
The stripes on the sketch were made with washi tape.

Rather than the star, I stamped the Lawn Fawn camera and colored with with Copics.  Then, I cut it out and adhered it with dimensional foam.
I added the wood veneer bubble for fun.  I used distress ink to color it.

I used three different stamp companies on the inside
(Paper Smooches, Lawn Fawn and Simon Says Stamp)

Sydney Dog, age two

Had a little crafty time and made a LO of our dog's 2nd birthday.
She's 7 now so I am a bit behind.
I used SEI's "Park Buddies" paper line and the current sketch
from A Cherry On Top (ACOT).

I found ACOT several months ago and have made several purchases from there now. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that they sell single papers so I can get the papers I need for my two page LOs.  Sign up for their emails and you'll get discount codes.

I recently bought a Silhouette Cameo.
I am such a NEWBIE!
I cut the arrow on the top left on the Cameo.
SO cool to be able to cut that either direction and any size.
The letters are from an old Karen Foster set.
I am entering this project in the Silhouette challenge too.

Here's the sketch by Becky Fleck.  I could not get the pic smaller....

I made a page for the right side out of the same papers.
The bottom sheet has small white paws prints.

Home Decor Project: 3D Wall Art

Started this project several months ago and finally finished it.
We bought a king sized bed a while back and when I was shopping for comforters I ended up purchasing this black and tan one.  It was on clearance AND I could use a coupon.  Super good deal. I liked others better but the price could not be beaten and it appeared durable for two little boys who like to come in and cuddle with us.  Anyway, the room needed color and I came up with this crazy plan to make some 3D wall art...

 Here's how I made them...

Purchased canvases in a pack at Michael's. They come in black, but were cheaper to buy white and paint the edges since I already has the black paint.

I bought tan papers at Hobby Lobby.
Took 1/4 inch off the sides so the black would show on the canvases.
I inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
I adhered them with my ATG.
Note: that alone will NOT keep the paper on...

I forgot to take photos during the assembly stage.
I planned out the panels.
I wanted a different flower on each of the panels for interest.
I used a screwdriver to stab holes in the canvases and then put the flowers through.
I trimmed off the backs and then hot glued the HECK out of them!
I also put little dabs of hot glue to secure the paper in discreet places under leaves. etc.
I added gems here and there.
I hung them on the wall using Command Strips rather than nails.

Not too shabby and the Hubs actually liked them.
Definitely different!
The cost with coupons and sales was about $30
until I decided to use the Command strips which added $8

YOU are Loved...

Been a busy summer with the boys.
I have also been feverishly job hunting and taking a class to renew my teaching license.

Very little crafting despite purchasing a Silhouette Cameo a week ago.
Hoping to play with it a bit soon.

Made a card last weekend for a baby girl coming in August.
Features 2 stamp sets and a die by Simon Says Stamp.
Inks are all Distress Inks.
The colors matched the gift wrap.

Hope my crafty friends are doing well.
I have not been able to visit many blogs or play in challenges
due to the busy schedule, but I hope to do so soon!

Bikini Babe!

Back again with a birthday card for a 6 year old girl who LOVES purple!
I used the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch #31
The stamps are Lawn Fawn's "Swimsuit Season" and the papers
are also by Lawn Fawn "The Bright Side"

Close up of the suit.
I used Hemptique string adhered with tape and glossy accents.
The pieces are popped with foam.
I added a bit of glitter with my new Zig Wink of Stella pen.
I started off paper piecing the ball and decided it was too painful so I pulled out the Copics!

Skylander birthday card

Another boy's birthday coming up.
We got him a couple Skylander characters so I wanted to use that for the theme of the card.
I found the image on the internet of "Crusher" which inspired my sentiment.
I went through my stash to find the words to stamp.

Happy Mail for Maddy featuring Sequins

Inspired by Let's Get Trendy Sequin challenge, I made this card for MADDY.

I used 3 Lawn Fawn sets: You've Got Mail, Fly Free, and Critters in the Burbs (grass)
I paper pieced all the stamped images.  I tried coloring the mailbox three times before I gave up.  My Copic Colors just didn't coordinate so it is all paper pieced.
I used the sequins for the bird's happy flight path.

Thanks for visiting.

I tink the boys are pulling out the slip-n-slide this afternoon.
Let summer begin!

NEON hello card for Maddy

Decided to make a card for MADDY, a young teen battling AML, a type of Leukemia.
You can read about it HERE.

I am using the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch #30 and the
inspiration from the Let's Get Trendy Challenge: NEON

Lacking neon, I browsed Michael's and found these adorable pre-made banners.  I used that as my start and added papers from my stash (Simple Stories, MME).
I bought the sequins last week in anticipation for that upcoming
challenge so I used them here as flower centers.

I felt the card needed a handmade element so I stamped the Hero Arts flower,
colored it with matching Copics and cut them out.
The first card will go to Maddy and the other is for my stash.
